Well, even if she did, the movie isn't proof enough.
That plaque in the trophy room has the wrong position
for James, as JKR said that he was a Chaser and not a
Seeker. Also, not to totally bring mainlist stuff
here, she has never officially said that James was in
Gryffindor(though I think he was). They may have just
used her name because it's one they knew and it's
likely that she was in Gryffindor. But once again, I
wouldn't take that as proof of anything seeing as that
scene doesn't even happen in the book. In the book
McGonagall says "You're father would have been proud.
He was an excellent Quidditch player
himself."(SS-152US PB) No mention of postion or House.
