Bookworm:
Not to say that Professor McGonagall didn't play Quidditch, but she 
wouldn't have been on the same team as she is much older than James 
and friends.  Back in 2000 (after GoF was released) JKR said 
(http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.net/scholastic2.shtml)that "Professor 
McGonagall is a sprightly seventy." James would only have been in 
his 30s if he had lived.
