  I think the head says, 'no underage wizards TODAY', so maybe it was because 
  McGonagall and Fudge asked them to prohibit the kids from entering that 
  particular day - because of what was discussed ;-)

  It did say "today" at the end, because I said the same thing... that is odd that they were not allowed in
  there, and my sister promptly told me they said "today". When I saw it the second time, they clearly said
  "today".
