>> Lupin inexplicably waiting endless seconds before realizing that
Harry is next in line and has conjured up a dementor, then
inexplicably admitting that he expected something else even more
horrifying to the rest of the class *but not doing anything about it*
such as, oh, I don't know, maybe skipping Harry's turn completely
(what a great idea! Why didn't someone like J.K. Rowling think of
that!)<<My explanation on that was that he mistook the dementer for
Voldemort, otherwise it doesn't make sense at all.
- I think the intent was that Lupin was distracted with something else, didn't
see that it was Harry's turn till the dementor came out of the wardrobe. Then
he freaked because whether it was a dementor or Valdemort, it was infinitely
more scary to Harry (and the rest of the students) than a huge spider or Cobra,
or a scary, creepy clown(!?!) If he had thought about it, he probably would've
made Harry go to the end of the line, or conveniently end the class before
Harry had a chance to have a turn. As it was, it was just poor lesson planning
on his part, IMO! :-)
By the way, what does Lupin say to get the dementor to go away? I didn't catch
that in the film. Why didn't he say "Expectro patronum"?
Out of curiosity, what else was there? (aside from Flitwick being so
changed, of course...I know he's just listed as "wizard" in the
credits, but who else *could* he be? he's clearly a teacher, and if
he's not Flitwick, then where'd Flitwick go?)
- I still don't think that was supposed to be a "Hitler Flitwick". Lots of the
teachers at the table were different. Where was the Quidditch coach? Where was
Prof. Spout? The actors just were not available or not asked back, for whatever
reason. Probably because they didn't have any speaking lines...
