I'll not bother trying to collect individual comments to reply to on
this thread if you don't mind. I agree with those of you who had
hankerings for a "handsomer" Sirius--I know where you're coming from.
However, having said that I have NO misgivings about Gary Oldman
playing the part, nosiree, not a single one! I am absolutely
convinced that I and all the doubters will have been converted once
the movie premiers. So what if he doesn't exactly "look" like your
personal idea of Sirius? He can embody him all the same. My reason
for saying so? I give you: Kenneth Branagh!!!! He wasn't even close
to how I had imagined Gilderoy, but on screen he really WAS Gilderoy,
every swaggering, incompetent inch of him. When I read the books I
still see my Gilderoy, but as far as the movie goes, the casting was
a stroke of genious and I have every confidence that we will not be
disappointed this time either. All the casting has been superb. I am
also confident I will like Gambon as Dumbledore even though I would
have absolutely loved Derek Jacobi take over the part. Oh well... I
defer humbly to the Harry Potter casting apparatus , I think they
have been proven right every time so far in the casting, and I can't
see why this time should be any different.
Sophia (confident of being completely and utterly delighted with PoA)
