When I first heard that Alan Rickman had been cast as Snape I was thrilled.
I had read the books first. The thing that I thought was perfect about him
for the role is his voice. If there was ever an actor who had a voice that
coincides with the descriptions of Snape's voice and manner of speaking, it
is Rickman.

For me, it was Rickman's delicious sneer. Have you ever seen anyone look SO
disdainful with just a curl of the lip??? I've loved Rickman since "Robin
Hood: Prince of Thieves" where I thought he was THE PERFECT Sheriff of
Nottingham! And the swordfight! WAY cool! I keep hoping Snape will do more dueling.
His duel with Kenneth Branaugh was way too short for my taste. The man has
style!  ;->
