Of course most people will be focused on what's *worse* than the books, but I
agree that some things are better changed for the screen (or in general).
Off the top of my head....
-In SS/PS, Hagrid telling Harry the story of his parents in the Leaky
Cauldron as opposed to in front of the Dursely's, which felt sort of awkward. --
Also, later that Harry leaves directly from shopping for supplies to go to the
train as opposed to going back to the Dursley's for another month first (of
course, it doesn't work out with the dates correctly, but works better to just have
him go directly to the train and not see the Durselys again until the next
summer).

I'll second detesting the sickingly sweet Hagrid hug scene at the end of CoS.
That and I don't quite understand why they changed the order of the sorting
hat scene, in the book it makes sense, its alphabetical, but in the movie its
completely random (I understand if they just want to show the main characters
getting sorted, but why aren't *those* at least in alphabetical order?).
Arg, can't think of any more because I've been up faaar too many hours today.

-Rebecca (who will be going to bed now)
