I cannot imagine what these films would be like without the trio. I
know all three kids are enjoying being in the films and would gladly
do all 7. In fact, Dan has said he wants to stay in the film industry
even after the 7th film is in the can (so that was a hint to me that
he wants to do all 7), Emma said she would only give it up to act
opposite of Brad Pitt and Rupert said he guesses he will give up his
childhood dream to be an ice cream man. So it seems they do WANT to
but they are playing it by ear. WB and the producers would be mad to
replace them as I think many fans would rebel. I know a few myself
who just wouldn't go. I had qualms about seeing Michael Gambon as
Dumbledore and that could not be helped since Richard passed away. I
think he did a wonderful job but I missed that certain twinkle of
mischief Richard had in his eye. I just wish we knew why David Heyman
made the comment everyone is quoting and if he actual said it that
way. I have heard he loves the three kids as if they were his own so
it would seem odd to say that. I have had a funny feeling about Tom
Felton continuing. He states on his website that he plans to go to
college in 2005 and that he put it off to do GOF but he really wants
to go to college. Maybe they could work around his school schedule or
something but he might not WANT to do them after GOF. Would be a
shame as he makes an excellent Draco.
I hope it is just rumors and speculation. It would be sad to replace
them because of age. As everyone has stated people are always playing
characters younger than themselves and older too (look at Lea
Thompson in the Back to the Future - she play a 17 year old and 40ish
year old in the same movie!). And look at Moaning Myrtle - shes 35
playing a 17 year old.
Anyway, I have rambled long enough. I will just hold on that it is
just rumors and if it is not then the producers will get a nastygram
from me. ;o)
