Point well taken, and it always really bothers me when he gives Ron's more
intelligent lines to Hermione just to show us how smart she is. OTOH, I did
like how they used her in PoA to verbalize what Harry was thinking in the book.
I'm referring to the scene near the end where Harry is waiting for his dad to
come and save the day. They could have done that with a dorky voiceover, or he
could have been talking to himself, but I think it worked well having Hermione
there. The dialogue between the two of them mimics Harry's thought process
from the book without being contrived. This is one of those things you can do
in a book, but it doesn't work so well in a film.

The script excerpt from GoF looks similar. In the book, Harry is very
introspective here, so film Hermione can play the same role she did by the lake
in PoA. Meanwhile, they've also compressed a few different plot lines into a
short time - hinting at Hermione/Krum, Rita Skeeter's article about
Harry/Hermione, a bit of exposition about Barty Crouch's past. It sounds like
a fun scene, loaded with clues. In any case, the dragon fight itself should be
stunning!
