Wow! This is the first time I had ever seen a comparison of wide
screen to full screen, and had absolutely no idea how much of a
difference it makes. I am SO glad I purchase wide screen movies.
Here are a few of my reactions
First reaction - the scene where Uncle Vernon comes into Harry's room
at the beginning of the movie would just look stupid without a wider
shot. I'm not even sure it would make any sense even with a pan.
Secondly, is it just my imagination or does Ron get the axe over
Hermione? Just in the scene's posted on the above link, Ron is cut
out of three (and ½) shots. Poor Dean and Seamus though, are they
even seen in the full screen version? Lupin seems to get cut a fair
amount of times too, though.
Lastly, how, oh how, does the Bogart!Snape scene work when you don't
see Snape? I'm sure the viewer gets the drift from a pan, but it
surely doesn't hold the same effect.
Thanks for your efforts and sharing.
