Has anyone seen the one with Harry in the graveyard - actually I think this one is from Entertainment weekly magazine. Look at the names on the tomb stone. Now I am to assume the tomb stone is LVs Father and Grandparents whom he kills. But look at the last name on the Tomb stone it is Tom Marvolo Riddle - That is LVs name - not his fathers. LV was named Tom after his father - Marvolo was his grandfathers name on his mother's side. I think the names on the Tomb stone are wrong. Anyone agree or am I mixing something up? May just be cropped off. Definitely not Gary Oldman...remember the black, shaggy hair? Gary?s hair IS blondish in real life, but I suppose they dyed it black for the film. I?m assuming that was his real hair and not a wig. Though I still wish they had put a long black shaggy wig on him. I just always picture Sirius with waist length messy hair! On the same note... CAUTION: HBP B O O K S P O I L E R (yes, I know, wrong chat room, but this is 1/2 book/1/2 movie related!! :-) Was anyone else hoping against hope that Sirius would reappear in HBP? I was hoping that Dumbledore?s blackened hand had something to do with the fact that he reached behind the ?veil o? death? because he heard Sirius talking, and tried to reach a hand out to him. But that the death-chamber ?killed his hand?. Feels like JKR dropped the ball on that, what with Luna?s words of comfort to Harry at the end of OOP. :-( I really love the Sirius character. (love/hate...I hate when he?s mean and insensitive to poor Harry! Though it fits the character profile.) But I really wanted to see Gary Oldman reprise his role as Sirius in the last 2 movies. At the end, where is Harry falling from? Looks like his broom, but it also looks like it is nighttime. Isn?t the dragon task during the day? BTW, how DID the crowd get all the way up that mountain to see the 1st task? Looks like it?s a mile from Hogwarts. Unless they all flew on their brooms?! :-) 2. In the first clip, is that a dragon flying by the windows? 3. What do you think of the 3 funky audience stands that are in the middle of the lake? Weird. And Harry?s ?aqua-batics??!?!?! Flipping out of the water like a dolphin?! Looks pretty whacky to me. I pictured him more staggering out of the water at the end, gasping and choking. Those mermaids certainly are evil-looking! 4. There was some consternation over the pointed hats of the dementors. One would imagine that they would have hooded cloaks like Voldemort did in SS. This makes them look KuKluxKlan-ish, especially with the fire and persecution of the muggles. It certainly looks like the director/art directors went all out on this one. Must have spent a fortune! Good question as it looks like stairs and fire. Hmm maybe as someone else suggested, the pensieve. Would make me less likely to use one if that's the way you go in. No I don't think it is the dragon task as he is wearing a blue shirt and jeans and he has that nifty uniform in the dragon task. Oh and I agree about the crowd, what the heck? I thought they just used the Quidditch stadium and this looks like there was some travel involved in getting everyone there as it does look quite a distance from the castle. Hmm. I mean they wear hoods, diguises and persecute a group of people in THEIR opinion is beneath them. So it doesn't surprise me to see them hooded and the hats are pointed. Yes it does look like they spent a bit on this film but then Mike Newell said the budget was like that of a very small country when he took the helm so I am glad to see that it appears they spent the funds wisely. I too am dying to see how Ralph does as Voldemort. I remember seeing him in Schindler's List and then in Oscar and Lucinda and I had to keep reminding myself that he was not Goeth because he was just evil in Schindler's List but so sweet in Oscar and Lucinda. I have high hopes for him as Voldemort. And I am counting the days until November, even told my sons' teachers that they will be missing in the afternoon. I am so excited now! I thought of poor Dumbledore, and I wondered if that is the part that gave Rowling the chills from the movies. Have a great weekend ya'll Jen :) Long before HBP came out, I thought Harry needed "closure" on Sirius's death -- I was so frustrated with the fanfics I was reading that the idea of giving Harry a way to grieve for Sirius made me write a sixth year story that became a novel (930 pages -- that's a novel, not a "story"!) That story spawned a sequel, a seventh year fic which is even longer. I read HBP looking hopefully to see how close I got to the memorial JKR would do for Sirius and BOY was I disappointed!! I can't believe she didn't have Dumbledore, Remus or the Order do SOMETHING to help Harry get past it! Argh. I'm not looking forward to Sirius's death in the OoP movie either, but BOY I'm looking forward to GoF! Even with the liberties they seem to have taken (from what I can tell from looking at the trailers), it's going to be a visually stunning, very exciting film! I can't WAIT to see it, especially the second task, which is probably my favorite "adventure" in all the HP books! I saw PoA 8 times in the theaters, including once at an IMAX theater -- I plan to see GoF at LEAST that often (matinees are certainly easier on the wallet!) Can't wait to see it! Oh, if you want to read my stories, go here: _http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPRefinersFire/_ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPRefinersFire/) I sure wish JKR had given Sirius some kind of "send off" for Harry's sake -- I can't understand why she didn't. What a glaring omission!! Maybe the filmmakers will put it in, at least at the end of OoP, just for "closure." They've changed so many things, why not? And yes, that comment about being dropped off the Astronomy tower probably was one of the things that surprised JKR! Lynda "The cat's among the pixies now." It is also on IMDB but I heard about it on The Leaky Cauldron at http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/MTarchives/005206.html so I have been checking out Goldenberg. Goldenberg wrote the screenplay for Peter Pan which I personally loved. He did Contact, which I liked but it isn't a favorite, he did Bed of Roses which was a cute movie and he is writing Where the Wild Things Are. Which is a pretty neat children's story. Not sure how it would be a film. Maybe a short cartoon film. But I think he will do a pretty good job. Perhaps he will actually give Ron the lines that are his in the books. That always bothered me in the films when Hermione had Ron's lines. I love Hermione (she is a favorite of mine) but I wish Ron in the films was a little more of the character he is in the books. I am actually looking forward to seeing how he does.
