Lynda:
...could you tell me  who that black kid is (the new Gryffindor who has more
lines than Dean!) and why he's in the film?  Seriously, I was quite offended
that the "core cast" of third year Gryffindors other than the trio (Neville,
Seamus, Dean, Parvati, Lavender) had lines taken away from them by a
newcomer.  And do you know  who that other Slytherin boy is and why they had
him there instead of Goyle sometimes?

Kaesa:
...some people had theorized that the other boy was Theodore Nott.  I don't
think he was, though, unless they're disregarding what JKR has said about
Theodore Nott; I have a feeling he's just an extra random Slytherin.

Valerie:
The black kid IS now Dean Thomas. Dean, whom Harry "sicced the snake on" in
COS, has gone from being a tall white kid with dark hair, to a short black kid
in POA. Why? Who knows?!?! But look/listen closely at the "Boggart-in-
classroom" scene where the kid says something and Lupin responds something
like "That's right, Mr. Thomas". Guess they couldn't get the original Dean
back, so they changed actors.

I don't know why the director thought adding a new character to Draco's
"posse" was necessary. The Crabbe and Goyle actors were still there, and, if
anything, it might've been more interesting to give some more lines to Pansy
Parkinson rather than having her in the background on so many Slytherin
scenes. Balance out all that male energy!!

Last night my girls and I had a blast playing back some POA scenes in slo-mo.
We were laughing hysterically. I love the expression change on Draco's face
when he struts up to Buckbeak, then looks terrified when B rears up at him.
Priceless! :-)
