While watching POA for the 30th time, I just noticed that the fellow
in the Leaky Cauldron that is shown reading a book and stirring a
cup of something is reading Steven Hawking's A Brief History of
Time. I don't know why this is so interesting to me. I could see if
he was laughing or something.
What are the groups thoughts on this, or am I over analyzing?
Leeann

You're not over-analyzing -- it was one of the many references to time that
Cuaron inserted throughout the film (listen for ticking clocks in the music
from time to time, and notice the cuckoo clock at the Dursleys, other clocks
various places, and Harry looking out through the clock face as his friends go
to Hogsmeade). And that guy stirring the cup of something in the Leaky
Cauldron is some famous Brit rock star (he's not famous to me, so the name
escapes me -- you can find out about him by researching a bit on DanRadcliffe.com,
where they made mention of what I'm about to tell you) who wanted to be in
the movie as a lark. He got such a kick out of Dan's music mania (Dan's into
garage and punk bands -- I think those are the correct terms for them) that he
included a pic of himself and Dan on the cover of his next CD, which must
have been a huge kick for Dan (this story, the photo involved and the photo as
part of the CD cover are all visible on Danradcliffe.com in the archives
somewhere).

If you remember when Harry snuck into the Three Broomsticks under his
Invisibility Cloak, just before he turned and ran up the stairs to the room where
Rosmerta was talking with Fudge and McGonagall, there's a guy sitting there at
a table with two of his fingers lit like candles -- at least that's what it
looks like. That's Cuaron himself doing a "Hitchcock" (a cameo in his own
film). And the woman with the baby in the painting next to the Pink Lady's
painting is Cuaron's wife and baby, so I read somewhere (probably The Leaky
Cauldron, the font of all wisdom Harry Potter-related).

Nah, I'm not obsessed with Harry Potter, not me! heehee
