The money won't be difficult to explain at all.  The twins were 
taking bets through out the tournament.  Betting on Harry of course.  
I think you're right however, and they'll ignore the twins and 
Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (sp?).  I think they'll become more 
important in the last book.  (only speculation, sorry)
