Nude theatrical performances are not illegal in most communities in the US.
In fact, I stage managed a professional production of Equus in Dallas,
Texas, a pretty conservative place, way back in the mid-70s, in which the
performer playing Alan Strang was nude for that scene. We did make sure that
the patrons were aware of this, but it was a sell-out run for 6 weeks and no
issues arose from the production at all.

I would be highly surprised if this professional West End production of
Equus would not be performed with that scene in the nude, as is appropriate
if one has read the play.
