to get the
shot.....means that he had to be erfect probably that is why there is
not that much emotion as J.K. Rowling has put in the book.....but
shouldn't they be sticking to the book....so I don't think they should
have taken so many shots....may be that would have helped them get
more emotion as in the book.....als the 'HESITATION' as displayed by
both Harry and Cho(Dan and Katie).<<

We only see the "lip lock" in the photos we've seen so far. We've had no
chance (so far) to see the hesitation and emotion involved beforehand.

I've read lots of places that it often takes 30 takes to get a scene right,
because of having to shoot from various angles, because somebody coughs or
sneezes or fluffs a line, or, as often happens when Rupert and Dan do scenes
together, gets the giggles. Doing 30 takes isn't necessarily because they
didn't do it right.

The whole point of film acting is to be able to "turn it on" when the
cameras roll, no matter how often you have to "turn on" that emotion or whatever.
I love to watch behind the scenes films on HBO or on DVDs. It's obvious from
watching such films that actors are very adept at getting the same emotion,
the same "freshness" to a scene over and over and over. That's how stage
actors can do the same part for weeks or months and have the show still be
excellent for the audience at the end of the run, sometimes even better then than
it was at the beginning. That's acting.

Dan's an excellent actor no matter what some folks on various message boards
think - if he wasn't, he wouldn't have been cast in "Equus" which requires a
very serious actor with excellent skills. In a stage show, the success of
the show lives or dies by how good the actors are on stage. No amount of film
fame would make that show a success if Dan wasn't good in the role, and no
producer is going to risk his or her reputation on someone who's a "celebrity"
rather than an actor with serious skills. You don't see someone like Paris
Hilton starring on Broadway in serious dramas, do you? That proves my point.

Back to the kissing scene: Katie may be new to acting, but as Dan isn't,
and as he said in an interview, their nervousness over doing the kiss in the
first place played well in the scene. And this wasn't his first screen kiss,
either, so whatever happened to make it take 30 takes was most likely not his
fault.

Hope this clears up your confusion! :-D
