It's not the 'prank' scene, but Snape's Worst Memory.  At least to my 
mind the 'prank' is when James saved Severus from a transforming 
Lupin.

Photos of the SWM being filmed were released last summer and  Dan is  
standing off to the side as an observer.

Just my opinion, of course, but The-Powers-That-Be probably thought 
casting Dan as James was too much of a gimmick.  That's assuming they 
even considered doing it.
