I think Dan made a brave and wise choice in auditioning for Equus -he wasn't GIVEN the part, he *earned* it, auditioning against many other actors, according to an interview of the director. The director made no bones about the fact that film and theater acting are very different and Dan would have a large learning curve, but that she knew he was up to it because he truly *won* the audition. That one nude scene is necessary to the play, if you've ever seen it, and the part itself is truly harrowing. I hope he doesn't "take his character home" the way some actors do, but keeps his normally cheerful demeanor when he's offstage! But he's apparently been good about leaving Harry in the studio and being himself elsewhere, so playing Alan Strang shouldn't bother him too much once he gets past the nerves that must be involved in such a job.

I just checked out:

and there is a trailer for Equus. Very haunting...the play graphic is a pic of Dan (allegedly nude, though the image cuts off at his navel!!). He has his head and arms thrown back, and his chest morphs into the head of a horse. Creepy!
[Also a gorgeous shot of him on the Equus website. The young man is aging nicely!]
I had rented the movie with Burt Lancaster, and am dying to see the play! If anyone across the pond gets a chance to see it, please give us a report!
Thanks!

PS. Anyone seen December Boys? It's not appearing on Netflix or Blockbusters online list, even for future release. Anyone know how I could get ahold of it?
