I saw OotP one last time on the big IMAX screen last night. This is the
last weekend for it. I've noticed many of the theatres are only playing
it once a day now, in the Washington, DC area. Ah well...guess all the
HP followers have seen it by now. Anyone know when the DVD is scheduled
for release?!
I love IMAX...the detail is so clear. I caught so many more of the set
details this time around, now that I've seen the movie 4x, I can start
to focus on other than the dialogue.
My favorite parts of the movie were:
- The scene when Harry is talking to Sirius in the Black family
tapestry room. Dan's line delivery is sooooo awesome in that
scene...the pauses, the intentional incomplete sentences...it just
really portrays how confused Harry is about the whole Voldemort mind
infiltration that is happening to him.
- Also how pale and shaken he is after the Mr. Weasley/Nagini
scene...you can really imagine how shocked and sickened he is by the
whole experience, not wanting anyone in the Weasley family to know that
HE was in the attacker position. How do you explain that to your best
friend?! Dumbledore, of course, guessed it.
- I still admire the wonderful touches of acting in the 'Quill Torture'
scene... the horribly sadistic look on Umbridge/Staunton's face and the
shocked and confused look he/Dan gives her. When that scene begins, in
the theatre, you can hear a collective intake of breath from those who
have read the books, knowing what's coming. And you can hear a pin drop
during that whole scene and know that everyone is horrified by the
injustice to our dear Harry.
- I also love the delivery of lines and the physical mannerisms of
Snape/Rickman in the Occlumency scene. He's so awesome.
- And Lucius/Isaacs delivery of lines in the Ministry scenes. That
incredible control versus the manic, unhinged Bellatrix.
- And I thought a great job was done with Kreacher...the mutterings and
hateful looks he gives Harry when he arrives at Grimmauld Place; the
falsely ingratiating bowing and scraping to Sirius in the tapestry
room...perfect, as per the book!
...What are your favorite scenes?
