introduce Mundungus, and in this case we'll have "Five Potters" :-)!

Carol responds:

They need Mundungus for the locket Horcrux plot and for the rare bit
of humor. ("Just once more for luck, Master Harry?")

I think they'll cut down on the spectacle of Bill and Fleur's wedding,
but the main thing that will need to be condensed because it's hard to
film and will slow the action is most of the Dumbledore backstory.

The scene with Bathilda!Nagini will be terrifying, especially for very
young children, but I hope they don't cut it. Ditto for George's ear
and Charity Burbage. Snape's death scene will be unbearable to watch
but it has to be there. Regulus *should* be in there, as a dreamlike
flashback, but they'll have to cut the scene before he's pulled under.
Even so, how they'll make this film suitable for children, I don't
know. I think parents will have to be *strongly* cautioned.

I wish they could cut out the Elder Wand plot altogether but they
can't because of the death of Snape, for one. And I really hope they
keep in as much Snape as possible. I suppose they'll condense his
memories, but I hope they keep most of them. And Harry's public
vindication of Snape, even though it will be greatly condensed.

As SK said, they probably can't cut Dobby because he rescues HRH and
the others from Malfoy Manor and ties in with Aberforth. I don't think
they can cut Ollivander, either, and I don't see how they can manage
the Gringotts break-in without Griphook.

The Ministry scenes can be condensed; they probably won't have Ron as
Reg Cattermole struggling to fix Yaxley's raining office, for example.
Potterwatch will probably be cut as well. The Lupin/Tonks subplot and
Shell Cottage are expendable. So, sad to say, is the epilogue.

The doe Patronus and Sword of Gryffindor *must* be in there. Neville
killing Nagini ditto. King's Cross is a key scene that will surprise
filmgoers who haven't read the books. It will be interesting to see
how it's handled, especially since it's mostly dialogue.

Carol, who thinks that the film will focus on the action scenes with
as little exposition (and being bored and frustrated on the camping
trip) as the writer can get away with
