December Boys

It was only in Chicago for a WEEK?! I just looked at BoxOfficeMojo (a list
of how many theaters all movies are in that comes to my email each week -
shows how many weeks the film has been out, whether it's declining or getting
into more theaters, etc.). December Boys for this week was in 13 theaters
around the country, an increase of five theaters over last week, and this is it's
third week in release. George Clooney's movie "Michael Clayton" will open
in only 15 theaters, but then it opens nationwide. *sigh* That's the problem
with indie films, they don't have the deep pockets behind them to open wide.
And honestly, if Dan weren't in the film, I know I wouldn't bother with it,
and probably a lot of you guys wouldn't either. It would probably have
never left Australia if Dan weren't in it. I hope it does well enough to open
wider, but I'm not holding my breath. I haven't seen any box office numbers
for it (how many people have been to see it). I don't know where to find that
info. The BoxOfficeMojo site has it but you have to pay to get that kind of
info and I'm not THAT much of a fanatic! (Close, though . . .)

I'll be out of town when it opens in Cincinnati Oct. 12 and won't be able to
go the next week either, so I sure hope it will be in Cincinnati longer than
a week!!!!! Where did you find out how long it would be in town? Maybe
there's a website I've missed in my poking around for movie info on the Internet
. . .

Oh, and the site where I get the theater counts is _www.boxofficemojo.com_
(http://www.boxofficemojo.com) - I signed up for the weekly newsletter.
