Murmansk in the northern Kola Peninula, is a big Russian
Military and commercial sea port. Russia doesn't have a lot
of functional coast line. I think the primary commercial
ports are Leningrad (St.Petersburg) on the Gulf of Finland,
and Murmansk is more military.
I suspect Durmstrang is the the western area of the
peninsula very near Finland.
So, to your question, yes it is very possible to sail from
the port of Murmansk into the Lochs of Scotland. From there
though, it gets a bit dicey.
And, by the way, Giants are in the Ural Mountains of Russia.
