Handsome? He's described as "a big, rangy man with matted gray hair
and whiskers, whose black Death Eater's robes looked uncomfortably
tight. He had a voice like none Harry had ever heard: a rasping bark
of a voice. Harry could smell a powerful mixture of dirt, sweat, and,
unmistakably, of blood coming from him. His filthy hands had long
yellowish nails" (HBP Am. ed. 593). A few paragraphs later, we find
that he also has pointed teeth.
Overall, I think they've done a good job with him (except for the
uncanonical clothes, which remind me of Barty Jr. in the GoF film). If
anything, they've made him *too* handsome--or rather, not sufficiently
revolting. In the book, even Draco can't bear to look at him.
Carol, glad that the filmmakers are leaving most of the characters in
the film, even though, as usual, they're taking liberties with the
plot and costumes
