It's been a while since I've watched SS and CoS, but I remember thinking that Hagrid's hut was too close to the castle.

I like that in PoA, it's a bit of a trek out from the castle.  I like its symbolism: Hagrid as an outsider.  It would have worked better in CoS, but...
