I was thrilled with DH Part 1!! I thought the acting and directing was 
excellent. I saw it at midnight on IMAX which was a blast because most 
people there were obsessive Potter fans; dressed up, excited, 
chanting, carrying on. Saw it again the next night w/my family.
Having learned from prior disappointments, I try to go into HP films 
knowing that they will surely change some things from the book, but I 
have to say I felt that they stayed quite close to the text and I am 
grateful for the 5 hours that they are allotting to tell this final 
tale.

Here are some of my favorite parts:
- The tale of the 3 brothers; BRILLIANT the way they animated 
that...wow!

- When Ginny asks Harry to zip her up. It's quite innocently sensual, 
the way he slowly zips her then puts his hand on her shoulder.
It's their only scene together and yet it shows how intimate they've 
become since the last film. And then George walking in and smirking 
with the toothbrush in his ear, is a riotl!

- Love the 7 Harry's scene and Fred (or George's) smart aleck remark 
to Mad Eye about the Goblin Piss! And Harry's lack of fashion sense, 
lol!

- I like the part when Ron & Harry are sitting on the cot talking 
about Hermione. Ron says "How long you reckon she'll be mad at me?" 
and Harry replies "Just keep telling that story about the ball of 
light to your heart!" heehee! They've come a long way from their girl 
cluelessness in GOF! And when the new wand creates a ball of flame out 
of the jar...so funny!

There are just so many subtleties that I love in this film:
- When Ron touches Hermione's face in the cafe.

- The way Lucius cringes when V snaps his wand, like he's going to 
curse him or something. V mocking his "My Lord". The look on Snape's 
face when the teacher is pleading with him. It says so much even tho 
he's trying so hard to remain completely impassive.

- The torture scene between Bella & Hermione really makes me 
squirm...so evil!!! I liked the addition of "mudblood" dug into 
Hermione's arm. Apparently that was Helena's idea, ha!

- Love how it shows all 3 of the trio taking turns at setting the 
protective charms around their campsite. They are all getting quite 
good at their 'craft'.

- Love when Dobby keeps pushing Kreacher back while walking on the 
table, and then Kreacher is poking Mundungus, haha! They did an 
outstanding CG job on Kreacher...his mouth/teeth, loose skin...he 
looked so real! More real than Dobby, actually.

- Love the way they ended Part 1. The final scene is so powerful. The 
ruthless way that V smashes D's tomb, then grins evilly as he takes 
the wand from him and raises it to the sky...shiver!!
