I've just gotten back on. Speaking of moribund...television in the summer is not great. I've been watching the HP movies over again on cable. It's amazing how much better the first two movies look now. I always loved the detail, but they weren't as much "movie" movies as I'd have liked. Against a backdrop of serial killer series and Reality TV, however, boy do they look good now! janet -----Original Message----- From: charober To: HPFGU-Movie at yahoogroups.com Sent: Sun, Jun 30, 2013 12:04 pm Subject: RE: [HPFGU-Movie] Re: Is anybody still acive on this list? Ditto, I was also wondering where the heck is everyone. Guess there's nothing left to talk about with all books and movies made. Nevertheless, still hoping everyone's reading and that "All is well." :) Charlotte To: HPFGU-Movie at yahoogroups.com From: cheri0427 at yahoo.com Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2013 21:51:38 +0000 Subject: [HPFGU-Movie] Re: Is anybody still acive on this list? When the movies were released, I got caught up in comparisons to the books, scrutinzing the movies for what was omitted, added, or reinterpreted. The distance of time has allowed me to focus on the movies as movies and really appreciate the acting of the trio. I always enjoyed Rupert Grint's acting, but I wasn't that impressed with Daniel Radcliffe. Now I believe that Radcliffe does fine work in the films. Perhaps because Radcliffe always had the most to do (and, to me, Grint the least), I was more critical of Radciffe's work, experiencing the more limited camera time of Grint and Watson as a welcome treat. However, I now see that Radcliffe does an impressive job in those movies, creating a very believeable Harry about whom the audience cares. While POA remains, in my opinion, the best movie as movie, the others films are well done, too, and the trio do a fine job in all of them, even if Watson's Hermione is a little distracting with all the makeup she wears in the later films. A posh Hermione--I don't think so. sartoris22 > > -----Original Message----- > From: charober > To: HPFGU-Movie at yahoogroups.com > Sent: Sun, Jun 30, 2013 12:04 pm > Subject: RE: [HPFGU-Movie] Re: Is anybody still acive on this list? > > > Ditto, I was also wondering where the heck is everyone. You can get the entire 8 movie set on DVD for $40 right now (regular price is $78), but I'm not sure if this is a clearance price or if they reduced the price because this is older packaging, which they sometimes do. In Blu-Ray it is $65.47 for the entire set. Both are new at that price. You can get used discs cheaper than that, or you can pay a lot more with special features "like the Wizard's box set, which has all kinds of extras packed in with the movies. They are also selling "double features" in Blu-Ray for $18 each, which would come to about $72 for the 4 double features. I bought mine as the movies came out, so I obviously bought them individually. I didn't get a way to play them on Blu-Rau until Deathly Hallows Part 1 came out, so I only have the last two discs on Blu-Ray. I'd check them out in a store if I could, to see what sorts of extras are on each type of disc before buying. (I love the extras!). janet -----Original Message----- From: NDAY To: HPFGU-Movie Sent: Fri, Jul 5, 2013 7:03 pm Subject: Re: [HPFGU-Movie] Re: Is anybody still acive on this list? I'm still here. They are the graphic designers of the HP movies. In addition to designing the Marauder's Map, the Quibbler, and Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, they also designed the horcruxes. http://www.minalima.com/film-work/prop-design/prop-concepts-harry-potter It was absolutely wonderful to be in a large room filled with other people who love their work in Harry Potter as much as I do. ---Mary [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
