I would never ignore a curmudgeon. Not you, anyway.
No one ever said we should meet at DTUT; it was a suggestion from
Heidi as a fun place to sit, have coffee, dessert and talk. I *did*
ask if anyone had any food preferences for lunch, but no one really
got back to me with anything specific. Neil mentioned getting some
good New York pizza, though, and I thought of Totonno's (2nd Ave, 81st
Street). I know there are other good pizza places in the city but I
can't think of one off the top of my head. Totonno's is quite tasty,
though.
We don't have to go to the Upper East Side or to DTUT, but I feel like
if no one says "let's go here", we will never come up with a plan. I
suggested the Upper East Side because 1) the restaurants there are
numerous, 2) a DTUT happens to be there and 3) it is very easy to get
the UES from Grand Central Station. DTUT might be a nice place to go
after we eat lunch and are waiting for latecomers, like Amy Z, who I'd
wait around for for hours.
I agree with Joy that the group is getting quite large at this point.
I am about to make a list of all the people who said they'd be coming
so I can call restaurants for a reservation or whatever. One thing I
will say straight out here: please don't be late! If this is going to
be such a large group gathering, it is pretty unmannerly to show up 45
minutes later than the meeting time suggested (1pm, Grand Central
Station Info Booth). Please, be timely!
So... if anyone comes up with a really super idea for a place to eat,
post it here. If not, can we make Neil our British visitor happy and
get pizza? Totonno's also has salads and pasta dishes as well.
