Hiya :)
Welp, Friday has come and gone. It's hard to remember everything that
was talked about because there were so many interesting things.
The author of "The Science of HP", Roger Highfield was there, as well
as the animator, David Andrews, who created Dobby for the movie. It
was pretty cool.
The whole thing was about how some of the ideas in HP are derived or
can be explained by our muggle science & technology. They showed that
levitation is actually possible. That was really cool to know! They
showed a person levitating some little metal thing between their
fingers and then showed a slide that has a frog levitating. Mr.
Highfield had said "For all your Potter-Maniacs out there, that
unforunately was not Neville's toad." Hehe. And that there is a
Japanese scientist who has created an invisibility cloak (I already
knew this though). It's a prototype, but you can see right through
the guy wearing the cloak.
When David Andrews came up for his little presentation, we got to see
how he created Dobby and how they put that into the film. We got to
see the voice actor for Dobby, Toby Jones, doing the recording for
the movie. That was hysterical. And we also go to see footage of Dan
acting with the orange ball he kept mentioning in interviews. The
whole thing was really fantastic.
That's about it! :) Maybe there'll be another gathering soon that I
can attend, since it seems I just missed the last one! Is anyone here
from Brooklyn?
