Amazing story -- I left you a little review there on Part 1. If I recall
correctly, in the Sacks book there was mention that most people who have
synesthesia learn to hide it because people think they are nuts. Maybe it's
just that we who have "normal" sensations are all handicapped....
I've downloaded the rest of the story to read later.

You may be interested in my story "Touching Indigo" at

isn't HP fic, so no fear of "tainting the canon", and it deals with this
very subject. And although it falls under the heading of fanfic, it can be
understood by people who have no familiarity with or interest in the parent
work -- or so I've been told. It's also been published, so I think it's
safe to say that it is also fairly readable.
