I've just read the first two books in PP's dark material's series and I have
noticed two very interesting 'coincidences'

The first one, Northern Lights, has this exchange has a professor called
Trelawney who is a
'lesser m[a]n' and a 'scoundrel' (chapter 19). Northern Lights was published in
1996, JKR did not have a Prof Trelawny until POA which was published in 2000.
Obviously JKR copied PP.

The second one , The Subtle Knife' (pub 1997) has creatures called 'Spectres'
who are very similar to the dementors. ... Argh, I don't have the wit to carry
this off, I was trying to say that these are as significant (if not more) than
Souffer's claimed coincidences but PP is not suing JKR.

And that it just goes to show there are no new stories.

Storm (they are not bad btw, quite different to HP, not as assessable to
children as HP -more mid and older adolescent, lots of death, more of a sci-fi
feel to my mind.)
