Ummm...before everyone from the US says "Marrows?!??!!! gag....", a 
"marrow" is a zucchini, not the stuff found inside of a bone ;-). It 
took me a while to figure out exactly what a marrow was myself when I 
read a recipe in one of Madhur Jaffrey's book, until I read a footnote 
in another book.

'Rutabagas' is used in the US: it refers to a big turnip with 
yellowish flesh, usually sold with a covering of wax in most grocery 
stores. I've only seen it referred as a 'swede' in gardening books and 
seed catalogues. A 'turnip' here is smaller, white fleshed root 
vegetable.
