Thanks to everyone who answered my question. It's good to know I'm
not the only fan!

Someone compared the show to soap operas, I think, and I have to
protest against this - I really don't think they are at all alike.
For one, the dramas are real, not manufactured by third rate script
writers. Secondly - if there is one form of TV entertainment
that I totally abhor it's soap operas. I get an allergic reaction
within seconds. But I do watch Survivor - ergo, Survivor is not like
a soap opera. <g>

I'm fascinated with the show prinicipally because it shows politics
in the making. Not camouflaged with platitudes and slogans, but out
there in the raw. You actually *see* how power is acquired,
maintained, lost, regained.
That's why I liked the first show better, BTW. The participants were
more naive (except for Richard!) and they were more conflicted
between personal likes and loyalties, ethical considerations and the
politics of the game.
Because I'm interested in the politics, I don't care very much that
some of the physical challenges they face are falsified to some
degree. I'm also not very interested in the hype - the gossip,
rumours, TV talk shows, etc. In any case, most of the hype doesn't
reach Israel. (Talking of Israel - they haven't yet broadcast the
last episode here! Why did you tell me that Amber was voted out?!
Half the fun is not knowing!! <swallowing sob>)

About Jerri - I didn't like her (who could?), but I was mainly sad
and embarrassed for her when she was thrown out. To be so unpopular
that people would give up some of their advantage in the game to see
the last of you! Ouch.

As to who will win - I'm putting my thirty-seven Galleons, fifteen
Sickles, three Knuts, that Colby wins. He's a cold-hearted SOB but
he's got what it takes to win, IMO.

Naama, likes to vary her obsessions..
