But not, Obviously, Vernors! (And I'm talking about <real> Vernors,
not that watered down flattened out stuff that Pepsi has been
producing and calling Vernors since they bought out the company.

Vernors was a local Detroit company that made a Ginger soda that
would knock the socks off of anyone who hadn't grown up drinking the
stuff. Spicy, peppery, almost hot- Aged in Oak Barrels.

When I read about "Pepper up Potion" I thought of Vernors.
(Detroiters have always warmed the stuff for drinking when suffering
from a cold- nothing better!)It used to be fun to watch a novice try
their first Vernors- it was nothing they had ever tasted, and the
look of suprise on their faces.... Well, the flavor was strong, but
that made it the Absolute Best for ice cream coolers- Vernors poured
over Vanilla or Vernors flavored ice cream. (Thats something else I
miss!)

Faygo has great flavors too- and they make most of them in Diet
flavors too. (My husband likes to get Faygo when he gets sick of
Diet cola.) Friends of our from Chicago and Florida have become
addicted to Rock n Rye- Take it back home with them after they visit,
and ask us to bring it when we go to visit. In turn When we visit
Miami, we bring back cases of Materva and Iron Beer.- Can't describe
the flavor of these amber colored beverages, but they are a nice
change of pace.
