Ahh, teachers!
The good ones are few and far between...but when you find a good one you never forget.
My high school german teacher took me under her wing and helped me find something I could enjoy and excel at, and became my second mother. We still keep in touch, every so often.
I will never forget my high school graduation -- she came over after the ceremony to give me a hug, and that was one of only two times in my life I ever saw that incredibly strong woman cry.
Any wonder why I'm a German major? I graduate in 2002 and will be going for an MAT. All because of Frau Scheef. </heartwarming mush story>

Abbie, who loves heartwarming mush.

I've been meaning to post about this...

Of course. :) The nicest compliment I've ever gotten about my writing was
a reference to Hurston. It was from my 11th grade English teacher (who also
ended up serving as my supervisor when I was a student teacher).

We were reading *Their Eyes Were Watching God* and discussing passages.
When I was called upon, my teacher said out of the blue, "Your own writing
reminds me of Zora Neale Hurston's, Ebony... go ahead and read." This
teacher wasn't much for giving praise, either. One of those unforgettable
  moments.

Which brings me to my question. Did you ever have a moment like that? It
could have been a parent, a relative, a teacher, or even your best friend
who said it. But were you ever encouraged to keep on working towards
something because of a moment like this? Please share. :)

"Those who have ceased to love
  Have not ceased to need,
Those who have ceased to care
  Have not ceased to bleed;
Do not weigh the words that
Never ask, the minds that never
Seek, nor mark the averted faces,
  But see the heart."
