Actually, they're not. The Gamgees are sort of the "po white trash"
of the Shire, and Samwise is an employee of the Bagginses. Frodo
always sees more in Sam than Sam sees in himself, and it makes it all
the more rewarding when at the end of the series.... well, now, that
would just be telling, wouldn't it? :)
