plus-fours from the Lexicon:

A type of long, wide knickerbockers (q.v.)popular among modern
golfers.

Spotted Dick is a raisin sponge pudding. The "spotted" part is from
the raisins. As for the "dick" part, I am clueless.

I asked my British friend about it and he sent me a can of Spotted
Dick made by Heinz. I had quite a lot of fun with it. I took it to my
local grocery store and asked if they carried it. The clerk had to
show all of his co-workers and they all got a big chuckle.

The sponge pudding is spicey ... the closest thing I can compare it
to is an apple-spice cake. I am sure that the homemade version is
much better than the canned, but it was nice to be able to at least
sample that. I ate it with ice-cream, as it was a tad on the dry side.

Hope this helps.
