Hmmmm....sounds mighty fishy.
Point one: Why would anyone keep heirloom jewelry on a coffee table
when you know someone is coming over to the house?
Point two: Was the mother in the room with you while you evaluated the
child? If not, why?
Point three: Why did she wait an entire week to call anyone? I would
have torn up the house looking for it that night. Then I would have
called someone up within 24-48 hours.
Anyway, this is a trying time for you. Keep your wits about you. If
you find yourself getting stressed out, by all means, get some
counseling or have someone with whom you can talk.
