especially in the Eastern part of the state, that have some serious
accents. I'm from there and I couldn't understand the guy, so I can
understand where you're coming from!

Hahaha, that's too funny. There are some of those TX accents like
that floating around, too. Happily, I don't have one, but I do
use 'y'all' pretty regularly. Not in an Ellie May way, though. <g>
