Huh, let's go to contemporary literature... Patricia Cornwall, Elizabeth
George, Minette Walters, Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels, Joy Fielding,
Donna Leon... The list seems endless, and they are all widely popular. It's
also noticeable that it is really crime and mystery, with lots of brain,
investigating, clues and wonder, opposed to crime and violence with bad ass
cops...
