But then you would surely offend people by your silence? Anyway, 
communication is the stuff of life.   Nothing quite like standing in 
the middle of a huge courtyard screaming like a fishwife (with the 
blessing of the authorities, and no offence to wives with fish.  Or 
to courtyards.)
