At the beginning of the school year I noticed that Scholastic Arrow
Book Club had the hardbacks available in a set. I ordered one set
because I wanted to have it to keep nice for myself. Now I wish I had
bought another set for the students to use. They haven't been
available again since that month. I keep watching for them.
I also bought a book called The Book of Wizard Craft. The subtitle is
In Which the Apprentice Finds Spells, Potions, Fantastic Tales & 50
Enchanting Things to Make. It is a cleverly written craft book with
instructions for making things from an invisibility cloaks to dried
mandrake heads (carved from apples). There are stories, myths, and
informative pieces on subjects like Horticulture and Alchemy. The
illustrations are captivating. I bought it at a book fair last week
but also noticed it at Wal-mart on the weekend.
