What should I read next?

Sorry for asking the question without referring to the files first.  
I did see a list of recommended reading somewhere, but it was HUGE, 
so I was hoping to have someone point me to the best of the books I 
already own.  And you did, so thanks!

Amy, can I or should I just skip the Hobbit and head straight for 
LOTR?  Or is that kind of tacky?
