Thank you, thank you, thank you, Christian!  I was desparately trying 
to remember Malot's name just the other day.  I only know the title 
of this book in Dutch ("Alleen op de Wereld") from when it was 
serialized in a girls' magazine about 20 years ago.  Now I can search 
for the book in English.  You're a star!! :)
