Checking in

I am joining the discussion quite late.  Like all of you, I have had a
difficult time tearing myself away from the news.  Moreover, BOTH my
children have had pneumonia, and just as they started to recover, I came
down with the bug and it knocked me flat (right before September 11).
So I haven't been able to sit at my computer for almost a week. But even
though I haven't been posting, my heart has been with you all.

My brother works in midtown Manhattan, and I was dreadfully afraid for
him because he travels all the time on business and has clients in the
WTC (what if he was there for a meeting that morning???), but he was
fine, and got home to his family that night.

Like all of you, I know people who know people who have lost loved
ones.  For those of you directly bereaved on this list, I am so sorry!
I can only add to the (very well) expressed comments that many on this
list have made.  Thank you to those of you outside the United States who
have written to express your support and solidarity with us.  That is a
very great comfort.
