This is a pretty good name site: http://www.behindthename.com/

This is one source for unusual and Latinate names:
http://users.erols.com/saintpat/ss/ss-index.htm

I was looking for an Armenian name for a character in a future fic,
so I Asked Jeeves 'Where are Armenian given names?" and was led to
http://www.feefhs.org/am/am-fem.html (with links to male names and
surnames). Just in case, Ask Jeeves is at: http://www.ask.com/

OMG, I just tried it again and got a whole PAGE of appropriate name
links, like here is an SCA resource:
http://www.khazaria.com/khazar-names.html

In RL, I have a weakness for girls' names with issa. Like Marissa and
Elissa and Janissa.

I've worked up some punny names for the Potterverse, that I would
welcome other people to use:

One is a firm of very successfully attack lawyers: Newcombe and
Balmer (sounds like Nuk'em and Bomber). That's Willa Newcomble and
Mad Balmer, that is, Willa Weasley Newcombe (who was a Gryffindor)
and Madeline Moon Balmer (who was a Ravenclaw), both Purebloods who
married Muggle-born wizards, showing where their allegiances lie. And
their best investigator is a Slytherin Old Girl named Robin Steele.

A company that manufactures stuff like hair potion, scented soap, and
cleaning powder (for the wizard version of dry cleaning, which is to
sprinkle the magic powder on the garment and then brush it off), and
sells it in some cute little ruffled faux-Victorian retail shops.
Named Comfort & Joy after the 19th century foundresses, Mrs. John
Comfort and Mrs. Erasmus Joy --- that is, two sisters, Alexandara and
Wilhelmina Brewer (those were their married names), who accidentally
started a business selling Hair Potion from a secrt recipe in their
mother's family, and expanded.
