What a fun topic! I live in a place where many, many hippies ran off to in
the early '70's. There are some wonderful names here in
Mendocino. There's a tax accountant called "Raven Deerwater". Never met
him but I love the name. One of the tech support staff for my ISP is
Sage. My acupuncturist is Jorgen. The guy down the road is named
Moonlight and he once had a business partner called River.
The trend of taking surnames and using them as first names has caught me
off guard. I was standing in line at a store when an older man yelled,
"Keegan, come here!" As I started to reply, a small boy ran over to
him. Hmmm.
Mountains are showing up a lot. A friend named her daughter McKinley. I
think they're calling her Mickey most of the time. Sierra is popular, too.
While it seems kinda odd at times, I'm starting to enjoy it. My classes
were full of Catherines and Deboroahs in the '60s. There must have been at
least two or three in each of my classes.
