Mecki, soul sister, your post was too true to be funny. Let them who have no
children laugh; I've been there and will be again! :::thinks supportive
vibes at Mecki::::

As for the husband just not getting it, I can't begin to tell you the number
of nights I'm dealing with all three, bathing and bedding them down, and
he's in here playing a game. AND I work outside the house, too. He thinks I
invent things to do to keep from going to bed....like dishes, laundry, etc.
Sheesh. He'd get more response if he *helped.*

In his defense, I don't ask--I feel like I'm a weenie (Not A Real Woman) if
I can't handle everything--unfortunately I apparently sucked up that "I can
bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan" thing hook, line, and sinker. It
doesn't help that he refers to helping me as just that--helping me, like
it's really all my job but he'll lend a hand. I should just ignore the
semantics, but it's hard.

And on occasion, yes, he lived through a moment because my reactions were
too dulled to produce the correct murderous response. The most recent was a
week or two ago when I'd been up at 1-ish and 3-ish with the 2-year-old, who
had just been put in a toddler bed and kept rolling out, waking up, and
crying, requiring calming, and *then* was up from 4 to 4:30 with the
5-year-old, trying to calm *him* down in the bathroom as he decided if he
really was sick enough to vomit, or if he wanted to sit on the potty, or no,
he's going to throw up, nope, wants to sit, etc.--30 minutes kneeling on
cold floor so he can lean on my shoulder while he's on the john. etc. I have
approximately 15 more minutes to sleep, and I go back to bed cursing the day
I had children and guess who fuzzily wakes up and has, um, ..ideas? Yeah,
right. <cosby> You Did This To Me! </cosby>

And Jen, enjoy the anniversary night, and drink your wine.....I spent my
tenth anniversary out with my husband and *all three kids* because my sitter
fell through....eventful, yes. Romantic, not. Luckily the Magic Time Machine
has costumed waitpeople and drinks of fantastic colors with dry ice therein,
which bubble and smoke and keep the attention of the progeny for at least
one toast....

--Amanda, who has had an awful day and it wasn't even her family's fault for
a change...
