Are we talking about a state paid kindergarten or a parent paid one here? I
can totally see a state paid school turning down new students if they were
too full (although their choice of wording sucked *S*) Even a parent paid
school has quotas.....there has to be a certain number of teachers per
certain number of children. In Florida, (I work in a private pay
pre-school) with infants the quota is 1 teacher per 4 children (1/4), for 1
year olds, it's 1/6, 2 year olds are 1/11, 3 and 4 year olds are 1/15, and
5 years and up is 1/25. Personally, my students range in age from 4 to 11.
In actuality I am supposed to go by the 4 year old quota but I have 20
students. How the school gets away with this I don't know. *S* Many of our
students are from homes where the mom is a stay-at-home mommy. I raised 4
of my own and I totally understand needing time to yourself. I was a
stay-at-home mommy for 8 years and loved it, but the only break I had was
when my mom or sister took my kids for a few hours. My hubby (now EX hubby
*S*) wouldn't hear of actually PAYING someone to watch the kids when they
had a perfectly good mother right there!!! This man was very hard working
but had very few other positive attributes. NO help of any kind. I was the
mother, it was my JOB! Thank goodness I got out of that mess after the kids
were grown.

Good luck finding someplace to take care of the children. You might check
into a good pre-school. How old is Marten?
