However, in Canada it's b eing released as *Philosopher's* Stone, and canadian dvds *do* work in the US - that's what I am planning to get - I can't wait to see it properly done!

The short answer is no it won't work. If she has an incredibly expensive
multi-region player it would. Also you can buy kits for most players which
will convert them, try looking on the internet if you're interested. But the
studios have gone to a lot of effort to make sure that US and British
products are not compatible. Mainly because you guys often get the dvds
released while the film is still playing in the cinema over here and they
don't want us to all buy the DVD *instead* of going to the cinema.

I want to buy a copy of the forthcoming HPPS video. I know that British
videotapes will not work in US VCRs. Are there any techies out there who
know
whether British DVDs will work in an American DVD player?
This is a gift for a dear niece, who is the only other adult HP fan that I
know
personally. She is such a purist, she bought the British HP series to read
to her
young kids. Since I recently spent a week as her guest, I thought this would
be
the perfect thank-you gift. (She has already pre-ordered HPSS.) Help!
