Expensive airfares?

Ooops, Mea Culpa!  I had been thinking US$2900.  This is what I get 
for reading things at 5 am when I should be sleeping.  US$1500 sounds 
excellant.  

As for the intra-Europe flights, it sounds like you won't need them, 
but in case anyone else is interested, there are a bunch of web sites 
where one can book intra-Europe flights very cheaply.  EasyJet and 
Buzz are probably the best known.  Sometimes, major airlines will have 
special offers that match the fares these start-ups offer.  I got an 
round-trip airfare of about US$82 to travel Amsterdam - London.  
(Unfortunately, I then changed my plans and had to buy a 
different return ticket, oh well.)  For lowest fares, one has to book 
well in advance.
